Mr. Bharat Nepal

As migrants, we are resourceful and resilient in the adverse situations we often find ourselves in. It is worthwhile to note that not all are equally resourceful, resilient and fortunate to be in a position to be able to offer help to those who may not be in very fortunate or resilient. I am humbled to be able to offer support, few words of wisdom and kindness and be able to share lessons of lives with others. I am so pleased with wonderful outcomes time and again that so many people have regained their abilities and strength, resilience and enjoying what life has to offer.

We all are vulnerable, not only as migrants but as humans and no one is invincible. This basic and cruel fact keeps me motivated to avail myself for others who entrust me to share their pain, sorrow and seek support. In return these experience my life has been enriched, I am grateful for this.

I along with few very active community leaders such as Rishi Ram Acharya founded Australia Nepal Public Link Incorporated in 2012. I have been supporting Nepali community about mental health issues on behalf of Australia Nepal Public Link Inc. I am humbled by this experience as to how those who participated in Mental Health First Aid have found this.

I would like to encourage everyone to keep an eye on not only your nearest and dearest but also to those who may not have or be with nearest and dearest while being here in Australia for whatever reason. Our kindness and moral support without judgement means a lot and will make a difference in their lives.

As community leaders our attitude, moral support and how we speak about issues faced by our community members can impact significantly and therefore we need to be mindful of our language about mental health issues. I humbly request all to have open mind, non-judgmental attitude and communication coupled with kind and considerate conversations with one another. How we speak is often noticed by others without us realizing it. Mental health issues are stigmatized in our community and much needs to be done as a community and we all have very important role to play.
